a high of 16 sounds like a good day to be out.

Well I am headed out to the Plymouth area for the first time. My friends uncle has some marsh and grass to hunt across from the public hunting ground. so hopefully there are some birds around. Any body else going out in this lovely weather?

I'm heading out tomorrow morning. Can't wait, I love hunting in the cold. Just wish we still had some snow on the ground.

I'm heading out this afternoon. Haven't hunted a ton lately but I know of some spots that are pretty long walks that are holding roosters.

Tomorrow for me too. Had to get some chores done today otherwise I would have been out. Looks pretty close to perfect, minus a small blanket of snow as mentioned.

Plymouth area.....you will be pretty close to me, good luck!

Hoping to get out tomorrow as well. I'm a little more motivated after I got a call earlier this week from a non-bird hunting buddy who gun deer hunted an obscure part of a large tract of public land not far away. He said I thought of you as I saw pheasants every day there when I was deer hunting...you should run your dogs back there.

I think I will....

Nice pic wisturkey.

Thanks and good luck at the obscure place tomorrow.

Cane or whatever this cane like plant that grows all over marshes is the key to finding birds right now if there is some where you are hunting. They eat the seeds and use it for cover. Hunt the edges of that, and marsh grass and you'll find birds. Wish I had a better pic.

Thank you for the tip! Every bird is earned this time of year so anything to boost the odds helps.

Didn't think I would get out today but I was able to get off work about an hour and a half early. Started hunting at 3PM and was back to the truck by 4:25PM. Saw 3 pheasant, 1 doe and a flock of turkey. Pulled a limit.

Not bad for thinking I would have any opportunity at all today.

Can't wait to get out tomorrow morning. Birds were running hard today.

Shorthairs.....at Scuppernong by chance?

I've been finding birds in that cane type stuff as well. I was told it's some sort of an invasive plant. It's nasty to walk through but the dogs don't seem to mind. They get in it and it sounds like breaking glass. Hard to shoot in it as well unless you're on the edge.

I can't figure out a way to keep my shooting hand warm when it's below 15. I wear a thick ski glove on my non shooting hand with a hand warmer. I've tried a leather glove with a hand warmer on my right hand and that doesn't do it. My fingers still feel like they're going to fall off. I must just have poor circulation.
