My girlfriend has an 870 16 ga. and wants to know what type of shot to use with it. She plans on keeping and using this gun on phez and rabbit because it was her dad's gun. Thanks Phil

Phil,

If it was her dads then I amagine it chambered for 2 3/4" shells. I like Fioche shells in #6 or #5 shot on Pheasants. Remington also makes Game loads that will get the job done. I would suggest patterning the gun so that you can see how the ammo shoots. I have several sweet 16's

Fixed. And if Iremember right it's a modified choke too.Nexy time I'm there I'll make sure but that's what I think it is.

That sounds like it is a very good choice for what she wants to use it for.

I would look into some shells for hunting that are somewhere in the 4 to 6 shot size in a manageable payload that she is comfortable shooting.

I might also consider, if she has not shot it before, finding some 1 oz loads in 7.5 or 8 shot and take here someplace where she can shoot at clay targets with it so she can become comfortable and confident with it.
