35 Dog Breeds that have Attacked the Most People

I saw this on the internet and thought it was quite interesting. The problem with their statistics is that they don't consider the number of dogs in each breed. The Lab for example is in, I believe, the top ten but there are more Labs than probably any other breed. They really should have based on the percentage of dogs within the breed. What did catch my attention was the number of "Hybrid" breeds that were in the 35. Must have been at least a third. I think that says a lot.

I had the same thoughts Zeb, I read that story last night. Labs being the most popular dog in ownership which would lead to higher numbers and more bites. It also seems that most of the hybrids were lab crosses, my thinking they are trying to produce a calmer version of the more aggressive dog. About a week earlier they had a story on top dogs to own for a first time dog owner, guess what lab was in the top again.

I don't put much value on this kind of "science". My neighbors longhair daschund bit me last week and I didn't bother to report it. It was my own fault. I reached thru the passenger side of his truck to hand him something. Obviously the dog didn't dig that and let me know. I think a lot of dog bites are the fault of the bitten. Also, I hate these designer breeds. I take my dogs to a public dog park every morning. It has become fashionable, amongst the folks who live up on the hill to create these abortions. When you breed a dog, you must have a clear picture in your mind of what you are trying to accomplish. Locally, these people have no idea what they are doing. To them AKC means top quality. In their logic, if you have a registered poodle and a registered labrador, you have the recipe for a world-class dog. They place ads like "looking for AKC lab at stud", with very little additional criteria. I see them being walked by these loosely-wrapped head cases all the time. Besides, maybe it's my poor taste, but they are mostly ugly and you can get a mutt at the pound for the cost of adoption fees. The kind of cash they want for these creatures is laughable.

I am confused as to how the Beagle, Jack Russell, Daschund, and Bulldog (they had a Frenchie as the thumbnail) made the list with fatalities. Unless they are including infants and the extreme elderly, and at that point (as with most dog attacks) the fault should lie with the humans involved, not the animal.

I worked at a vet's office in high school, walking dogs, assisting with procedures, giving baths, etc. I hated the little small pocket dogs because they were always nervous and would nip out of fear and a few individuals of specific breeds, ie Chows and Dalmatians, that were originally bred to be aggressive. Never had problems with Rotts, German Shepherds, Dobermans, Labs, or Pits.

Cats were worse. Much worse. Don't be a cat person.

Well there is also a video right below it on that same sight that says top ten hunting dogs. You should watch that one if you wanna laugh. Not one breed of coon hound in it. No labs. No bloodhound. They had about 4 smaller terriers included in it. What a crock! They did have some off-shoots of a wirehair and GSP. The guy who made it must be german!!

They lost all credibility with me when Brittany was on the list. Gimme a break! I can't imagine what it would take to get a Brittany to bite, but it is definitely YOUR fault.

And I quit reading at "Chabrador". We had one when I was a kid. We thought we were adopting a lab from the shelter, but the vet determined it was a chow/lab mix. Now, it WAS a bit "bitey". Strangers would be wise to not to hop the fence to our backyard, or he would just walk up quietly and bite the hell out of them with no warning whatsoever. A perfect dog for the questionable neighborhood I grew up in. All these years I never knew we had a chabrador...

I've seen a similar one were chessies and springers made the list. Come on chessies they are all talk. I'll admit it I've never met a chow I like. And dautchhunds....

This is my Akita #5 on the list.

I can assure you she's feral and vicious, and always bites to kill :D
