rjones2306 New member Jun 3, 2022 #5 Assuming you are using 1 oz loads, Mod will deliver killing patterns to 35 yards if the choke delivers 60% patterns at 40 yards. Full choke (70% patterns) should be lethal to 40 yards if the bird is centered. #5 shot for longer shots.

birddude Well-known member Jun 3, 2022 #6 .410, 28 and 20, I simply cripple fewer birds with tighter chokes. Obviously, a few more clean misses, but I prefer that to seeing a leg drop.
