28 Gauge Choke

for those that use a 28 gauge for pheasant, what choke do you use? I’ve always used LM and M in my 20. Do you go tighter when you use a 28?

Assuming you are using 1 oz loads, Mod will deliver killing patterns to 35 yards if the choke delivers 60% patterns at 40 yards. Full choke (70% patterns) should be lethal to 40 yards if the bird is centered. #5 shot for longer shots.

.410, 28 and 20, I simply cripple fewer birds with tighter chokes. Obviously, a few more clean misses, but I prefer that to seeing a leg drop.

Shot IC out of my 28 all season up until the last day in Iowa when I switched to a LM due to birds flushing long.
