As my old lab slowed down, I was content leaving him in the truck and bring him out for those tough to find downed birds in heavy cover that slowed down the hunt. I would lay down a hat or jacket where we thought it was, and is go get him and take him back to that "spot" (if i was confident it was hunkered down and not running).
Truly rewarding when everyone kept hunting and we'd meet them after Duke had found the bird that no one or another dog could find. He couldn't see well and he couldn't hear well, but his sniffer was just fine!
 
Tough start to the season losing Marty until December.. Larry is carrying the torch for now. Not my best work, and definitely not my best shooting, but in a few weeks I'll post my SD videos, and those should be fantastic. Doubt anyone else will be able to post a video this year where they find a pile of human "mud" in the parking lot with a dirty sock next to it. That threw me off so much I forgot to load the gun.. Tough to kill roosters with an empty gun :(

 
Thanks for making this post. It's hard to find a social media group that'll let you post videos for some reason. Here's a hunt I did last year in utah. It's not performing as well as well as my other videos. I'd love to change that, as I really like this video in the cinematography, I learned while doing it.

The short answer long is....

The 1 oz loads of bismuth 4s that I just finished last weekend contained an average of 149 pellets. I just broke into my 1-1/8 oz loads, which I bugged Boss about for quite awhile. They finally made them, & they contain an average of 157 pellets. So when I was expecting 18-19 more pellets per shell, I got 8. More like size 3.5 shot. I didn't want bigger shot. I wanted more! Stupid Boss guys.
