As my old lab slowed down, I was content leaving him in the truck and bring him out for those tough to find downed birds in heavy cover that slowed down the hunt. I would lay down a hat or jacket where we thought it was, and is go get him and take him back to that "spot" (if i was confident it was hunkered down and not running).The noses never seem to get too old. I used to hunt with this guy from New Jersey, that had a a German Shepherd with one quarter lab, and that dog would actually hunt. It was unbelievable.will you guys laugh at me if you see me hunting with a GSP and a Doberman Dobe gives my young GSP confidence digs a little harder
