2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

here's a youtube I saw tonight. The guy seems like he really loves hunting and loves his dogs. At the end he hunts a ditch. Some might look down on that, but I thought it was great. Pheasant hunting is such a great way of life, and I love being able to see how other hunters approach it with breeds and tactics sometimes different from my own. Now someone just needs to send goosemaster a gopro so he can get Mr. Jones and River on tape doing what they do.

I came here to post a link to my video and it was already posted! Happy that your takeaway was that I love hunting and love my dogs. That’s what it’s all about for me. Hopefully we can get 4 more days of cooperation out of these smart SD Roosters. On a side note, I wish you could shoot 2 or 4 a day, only so it was easier to split up how many birds I shoot over each dog!

I’ve watched hundreds of self filmed go pro pheasant hunts. This Klause dog is the best of the bunch, some of his tracks on wild birds are mind blowing. These dogs are very impressive.

Wet today.
Had a dusting in NC last night. And one 2 nights ago too. We weren't up to our armpits in cover today, so didn't get too snowy. Except when I tripped and fell in it while my second bird was sailing down way up and to the left after a heart/lung shot. My last view was honey running after him. Got up, dusted off, and she came trotting back with the dead bird in her mouth. If she hadn't marked him, I would have been lost trying to figure out where he went.

I accidentally took a long lunch and got one bird. Pants and boots/socks soaked now.

I mentioned his videos earlier in this thread. CJ Haskins has some fine dogs. Guy hunts a lot and in different states. He is a newer member to our pf chapter. He really enjoys guiding for our youth hunts. Seems to be a all around good guy.

I think galvanized nails are non tox, gotta call the game warden before I get to out of hand with this.
I know you are in SD, but I was going to mention watch out in Ioea. I thought I read that Iowa doesn't allow bigger than a 10 gauge for pheasant, but now I can only find that for migratory birds (in ND and MN too, and maybe other states).

...
You may not hunt migratory waterfowl:
• With a trap, snare, net, rifle, pistol, swivel gun, shotgun larger than 10 gauge,
punt gun, battery gun, machine gun, fish hook, poison, drug, explosive or
stupefying substance.

Regarding zinc coated steel nails, you might be in the clear:

I know that is for waterfowl, but it might be what is used by others.
