Well spring is here and I am optimistic about the number of pheasants that I am seeing. I was working on fence yesterday and it seemed like they were everywhere. It was a mild winter and it seems to be showing.

From the driving around I've done this winter it looks like if we have a good spring for nests and chicks we should have a bumper crop of pheasants. Hoping we don't have a really dry summer. Last time it was this warm this early there wasn't much as far a moisture. That can be very hard on those little chicks.

I was thinking the same thing. 2011 all over again:eek: Hopefully not.

Yep it's looking good as long as we don't get a late ice storm or get too dry during the summer. There seems to be a vast difference in moisture right now across SD.
If rains do come it could be another good early hatch. It's nice to have colored up young rooster to start the season.
