2014 Deer Season!

Neat video, I'm sure a lot of bucks survived the season in my area. We've seen a few while out bird hunting. We are going to open up some of the apple trees in hope to get more fruit. Do you guys manage your property for deer?

Yes, we manage our property for deer and all wildlife! We try to focus on doing projects that are beneficial to all wildlife, we are lucky enough to be in a good area so if we can create the habitat the wildlife will come!

Thanks Hollow, looking back through the old posts it's easy to see that you guys are doing the right thing. Any advice on our property?

Our property is mostly wooded with a few fields that are overgrown, there are some old apple trees. The woods are mostly maple and hemlock.
The area around is old farms that are no longer, except for a dairy farm. There is a good sized swamp and some small ponds.

It sounds like you are in a very good area! The first thing I would do is take a chain saw and go to town! Letting sunlight in will help create undergrowth, and wildlife love that! Creating cover in the more wooded areas of your property is key!

Wonder if some of these bucks later in the video survived the season?

It wasn't that long ago that spike and fork horn bucks were the norm for most Pa. deer hunters. Well that sure is changing. Now 3 1/2 year old bucks are much more common than they were. It's not Pike County Illinois yet but were closing the gap! Thank you Mr. Gary Alt.
