2012 Pheasant Outlook and 2011 Harvest Results

Great report. Thanks for posting, Chris.

Regarding this quote....

".... harvest was down but birds per person remained close to the average which tells me hunters just had to stay in the field a little longer to get their birds."

I have a little different take. Doesn't the state data imply that fewer people went hunting? They probably had to hunt longer too, but, I think the data says that a lot of people heard the bad reports, and, stayed home.

Yep good report--Charles Mix really showed as a low harvest and that seems to follow what we exiperenced last fall--it was really spotty.

At 46% down reported for bird numbers? U bet some hunters stayed home!

Just got a call from my son who just drove from Sioux Falls to Pierre.

I quote " there were thousands of pheasants in the ditches and fields, I've never seen anything like it"

Now that brought a SMILE to my face :D
