20 guage auto?

My suggestion would be the Franchi Affinity. I've got the 12ga camo version as my main duck gun, and my wife has the 20ga. It's her main pheasant gun. When I'm hunting alone, I'll often carry her 20 because it fits me perfectly and I shoot it well. My 12ga fits me perfectly too, but it's 6.8 lbs and the 20 is 6 lbs even. Fiocchi 3" Golden Pheasant 1 & 1/4 oz of 5's through IC choke is deadly. I was hunting alone this weekend and shot a couple of roosters with that combo.

I think the plain black synthetic stock can be had for $900, the camo a bit more. We've had them for 5-6 years now and they've both been very reliable.

Another vote for a Win SX-4. Bought one for the wife, but I'm shooting it more and more. We tried the Benelli guns, but felt they were too lite, and thumped pretty good with 3" shells. I like wood/blue guns to look at, but the synthetic guns don't show the dings/scratches like wood does. Throw in some rain and/or snow, and I just cant take the pretty guns out.

Regarding chokes, all my guns get Trulock X-tend in various constrictions.

I have the Browning Maxus II, same gun as the Win SX-4 and I would take a Benelli any day over the Browning. Mine has jammed a few times, is heavy, and has a long length of pull. It is easily adjustable with a pad change though. Browning offers 3 different pads and sent me one for free. And the Browning is very soft shooting but I prefer the reliability and lightness of a Benelli.

The Maxus is a 12 ga. The post was inquiring about a 20 auto, and the SX-4 is available in 20. I also have an original Maxus, which has never had any problems. The Maxus and SX-4 have the same gas system, which actually lightens the recoil of heavy loads. If recoil isn't a problem, the inertia guns are reliable for sure.

After all this, I searched for comparisons. The Affinity3 gets lots of good press. Making me want to get my hands on one. My son is wanting my A300, so I may need a Franchi.

My 725 just got back from Browning for the 2nd time. The 1st was for "doubling", both barrels fired with one trigger pull. Not at the same time, but sort of a ba-bang. Their "fix" (2nd trip back) was trigger pulls that went from the factory spec. of 3.3-4.3 lbs to 5 lbs. I don't want a $2500 O/U with 5 lb triggers... The DS choke tubes are another well-documented problem with 725. My solution was Trulock. However, Browning has sort of admitted that with their new line of Clay Burner chokes, which are supposed to have the correct constriction marking. I've ordered a pair to try out.

I admit I am not up on any of the newer guns. But My grandson has the Winchester 20. Not sure if it's the sx or not, I'll find out. It is very dependable but it's heavy and a little bulky for me. They also have the Browning silver. The Winchester doesn't get out of the safe much. The Browning does. I've shot the older 48 Franchi's. A dream to carry but not to shoot. To light and whippy. Balance is off for me. A guy could probably get used to them. All in all, I'll take the good old 1100 Lt. Unless you got to have a 3''

I was mistaken the Winchester is a sxp

I sold my Franchi Affinity 3 a couple years ago to my grand daughters boyfriend at the time. Fast forward to this year they broke up and the first thing I did was call him to see if he needed some cash. Well its back in my gun safe and happy I got it back.
