    Browning Dura Touch Recall Repair

I sent in a black new A5 for the Dura Touch repair last July/August. They acknowledged receipt on August 1 and shipped it back to me on August 15, so 2 weeks plus shipping. I had previously sent in 2 Maxus guns in April 2022. The black one was there about 2 weeks and the camo patterned gun was...

    Fitting a shotgun

Another thing I remember was the drill where they had me take my normal shooting stance and then bring up the gun and aim at a goose they had hanging from the ceiling. Then after doing that a few times, they had me close my eyes and bring up the gun and point at the same spot. If you are...

    Fitting a shotgun

That was the way I grew up too. We shot what we had, and made the best of it. Years later though a friend had one fitted and it really improved his shooting. When I finally bought a decent shotgun I decided to try it as well. So in 2009, I had two shotguns fitted by Michael Murphy and Sons in...

Question for New Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen Owners

My A5 Sweet Sixteen from 2016 doesn't show any wear on the lettering. The same with my A5 12ga from 2012 (the 12ga just has Browning on the left side and A5 on the right side). They have both been used enough to show wear if they were going to show it.

Looking at Over/Under 16 ga. opinions

I always bring along a spare shotgun when I go hunting, even if it is a local/day hunt. So far I have not needed the back-up myself, but I have let others use it when their shotguns stopped running. Bringing a shotgun in the same gauge is just practical, so I don't have to carry more shells...

    New Browning A5 16 FTE

I've never had a single issue with mine. It too has the extractor type on the left in the picture. Here is a link to an old thread where I ran it through a wide range of factory loads. https://www.shotgunworld.com/threads/shot-my-browning-new-sweet-sixteen-today.449517/#post-3681926 I would...

Am I the only one with birds to eat yet?

I'm out of pheasants and just have a few quail left. One good thing about Texas is that the possession limit ceases when the bird is finally processed or reaches its final destination. So once they are in the freezer at your permanent residence they don't count.

    Scary Moment

I was wondering the same. If private land I would expect a caution from the landowner.

    A true triple?

I've only shot one true triple, but it was a quail/pheasant combo: quail - pheasant - quail. The pheasant was setting right n the middle of the covey and really surprised me. It was quite a change in rhythm.

    Downsized Vehicle

When I took my Suburban in for routine maintenance they would usually give me a Silverado as a loaner. Once when they didn't have one available, they put me in a Traverse. I was surprised how big it was inside and how nice it drove. That was my only experience, but I was very impressed and will...

    Uncapped well, dog fatality

Thanks for the info. Sad deal. I've always liked to hunt around old abandoned farmhouses and buildings, but you know all of them had a well or cistern at some time.

    Uncapped well, dog fatality

I tried to look a that facebook page but it must be a private group. Was it an old hand dug water well or a drilled well?

    Tail Length

I started a thread about tail length a few years ago in 2008: https://forum.ultimatepheasanthunting.com/threads/pheasant-tail-competition.763/ These were just over 24 inches and were the longest we saw over several years in the Texas panhandle and Kansas. Cass

    Feral cats

This quote from the Sibley link above states the overall impact well: "First, it should be stated that the single most significant threat to bird populations is habitat destruction, in all of its forms and with all of its causes. The various causes of mortality outlined below kill individual...

    Feral cats

Sure, I can post a few sources for comparison. Like I said above, its not that cats don't eat a lot of birds, there is no doubt that they do. Its just that the total impact is just not substantial in the big scheme of things. I'm sure they can have a localized impact, but big picture they aren't...

    Feral cats

Of course not, I'm just using the fact that pheasants are also non-native to point out the weakness in the "non-native invasive species" argument. I don't doubt that cats kill birds, but the 2.4 billion survey has been argued for years too, and has been questioned by many as "fake news".

    Feral cats

No, I'm just saying that using the non-native invasive species point about cats is a weak argument. Cats were here long before the pheasants were introduced.
