    Why I love labs

I grew up with nothing but labs in our house as my dad trained semiprofessionally and then just turned to hunting. I'm now on my 3rd lab of my own and I honestly don't think I will ever own anything but a lab. Growing up with them and having them in my life for over 40 years. They are truly a...

Worst things that happened while hunting ?

I've dislocated my shoulder twice while out hunting, both times in a slough. First was chasing a cripple and tripped and fell, 2nd time was walking the edge on some ice and slipped and fell. Both times I was a considerable distance from the truck which made for a extremely long and painful walk...

    Winter’s coming!

What kind of snow totals are people seeing from this storm? Looks like a little east of Mitchell is where the snow really started to accumulate according to the weather channel? Just curious as I will be heading out Wednesday morning and was curious what types of snow we will be looking at, we...

    Okoboji Iowa

There is a ton of land in that area, it gets hunted hard all season and by this time of year the birds are all well educated! I hunted that area opening weekend and also a couple weeks ago and shot my limit each time. Keep in mind that there are no shortage of hunters on any given day so be...

    28 gauge ammo

I shoot IC out of my 28's the first couple of weeks of the season and then switch to MOD for the rest of the season. I shoot BOSS #4 & 5's out of them and have no issue with shooting birds 30yds+ with them.

    SD trip 2023

totally agree, we thought about hunting some of it but decided with what time of day it was we would leave it be. I used to hunt some private land close to those fields years ago, but the land owner moved into town and recently passed away this summer. I talked to his son while we were out there...

    SD trip 2023

I was shocked to see all that land get put into CREP, he has 1000's more acres around that area too. I looked at all that CREP this fall on our last trip out and I don't know if they have planted it yet or what the plan is for it but right now it looks like moonscape with some spotty cover. My...

    Iowa report from today

Not good, we saw birds. Still a lot of corn up in the area we were hunting. First day I had a $500 vet bill after my older dog got into a barbwire fence. Buddy I was with left the next day because his dog was having health issues that they hadn’t figured out till after he got home. Needless to...
