Who has lost one or found one in the parking lot?

The most famous incident of this would have to be “Bo Whoop” owned by the De Shootinest Gent’men. Great writer, hunter, and gun. Enjoy https://gardenandgun.com/feature/the-legend-of-bo-whoop/

    Last Go Ohio

5 minutes in 8-10 hens and roosters flushed a bit ahead of us, dropped one going right to left. Pointed a hen right after. Then 2 cocks flush wild just out of range. 50 yards on Shady flash pointed and dropped him going straight away. Over sooner than I would have liked. 6” snow on the...

    16 gauge

Browning BSS, Parker have single triggers. My experience is if it has ejectors it has a single trigger. Which I like. However, last year I had trouble with 2cd barrel going off. It’s inertia driven and got fouled by dirt/powder etc. Big positive of two triggers…they work

    16 gauge

I just can’t do the o/u. Looks like it belongs to a woman skeet shooting at the Olympics. Or the walking Orvis catalog. I’m more raggedy chaps patched boots pouch of Red Man carrying a model 12 that looks like hell. Seems to get me more permissions.

    Brush pants with zipper legs

Been wearing Dans brush jacket for years now. Been busting brush for rabbit deer and phez in Ohio since I can remember. Most times out west there’s no need for briar protection. Here in Ohio it’s a everywhere and will reduce clothes and skin to ribbons.

    Grouse, season start, and snares

Set many a snare and trap. Most if not all states require an id tag of some sort. Most states have conibear trap restrictions for reasons listed above. When the anti’s come for bird hunters, i.e. public ground restrictions is an easy mark, we will want all hands on deck. Know lots of...

    Sub-Zero Temps Worth The Trip?

Often I disparage my Setter’s turbo hunt speed but she’s good in the house and truck. Very durable. Listens well and great with people and dogs. And she just loves to go hunt. Man if I could just downshift her out of road gear and get her to find down birds…

    First birds of 2025

Seen lots of birds. Missed one got one. Of course it fell across the creek. Waded right in knee deep. This our 20 acres of crep and it’s had more birds than ever this year.

    Dogs over 10

My 9 yr old female setter still setting fields on fire at Mach 3. Go all day every day nary a limp to ever check her speed. Even considered a weight vest but reckon it will just make her faster. Now leaning towards weed gummies or some such but that will just give new meaning to “far out...

    Brush pants with zipper legs

Bought my son a pair of Frost River chaps. They have heavy duty snaps. Zippers always seem to ride up. I wear Filson tin chaps no zippers or snaps but gotta take boots off and on.

    Antique road show

Sweet, but I don’t shoot Damascus. Oldest gun I shoot is a 1905 Fox. Love the RST 2.5”paper shells for it but they’re always sold out. Picked up some B&P classic upland meantime and they’re ok but they don’t smell like paper. My son shoots a 20g Lefever made in ‘25, it handles like a pool...

    Hunting solo tactics

It’s not rocket science. We’re hunting-which means be quiet. As one very famous old hunter said- be very very quiet.
