Good to see Maynard Byrd posting again, hope he is doing the "Rain Dance" at the Ponderosa.

Three years ago we had several good pheasant hunts. Two years ago it was way down. Last year was terrible and we only made the one trip opening weekend. The CRP we normally hunt was either GONE or hayed, it was bone dry. Not expecting much in the way of bird improvement this year with CRP...

The railroads will NEVER give permission to hunt their tracks. It is a question of liability so I stay away. There is plenty of other ground to hunt.

Three of us walked hard on the opener and we noticed a huge decline in birds. One in the bag and my brother missed one shot. Lots of walking and normal crp fields we hunt were ALL hayed. Still, we had a good time in the fresh air.

Many thanks to those wonderful landowners who allowed me to pheasant hunt on their property this year. Wrapped things up by taking four close dream shots and bagged four beautiful roosters. Great way to end a very good season.
