You might be able to find a CZ bobwhite for that price of close to it, probably not new but i have seen them on gunbroker and other sites.

I carried a ithaca mag 10 with 26 inch barrel one morning chasing pheasants after a goose hunt, first and last time. I will say I could reach out and touch some wild flushing roosters! Wish i still had that gun loved it for goose!

I try to just pull the trigger as i swing past the beak and continue with my follow thru. Tough shot is the straight away as I don't cover the bird and generally hit the arse of the bird.

It would seem the hotter loads would impact your lead on the birds, don't know if this is true or not as i generally stay with one velocity, might be my paranoia that my lead will change.
