How can they hay this much public ground

Well said and could not agree more. The public land that I've hunted for 25 years, this year was not much different than previous years. The biggest difference were areas that typically didn't get planted as they are usually too wet and provided good cover surrounded by corn or beans, had been...

    A true triple?

No I can't, at least not in time to qualify as a triple. I might carry the A5 if there are several in the party but most of the time the 625 is my go to gun. If I ever get a triple with the 625, I'll be sure to post it...

    Kennel Covers necessary under Topper?

Good info jackrabbit. I have a 2 hole dog box that pretty much fills my truck bed and a topper. It easily carries 4 dogs but I'm now down to 3 that make the trip to SD. I also use the furniture blankets and when its really cold I also use a full size electric blanket on top of the box making...

License split for next year (non-res)

Bob, Not sure this will answer your question, but I bought a second NR 10 day license in January 2021(my third week) and was able to set the end date as January 31, 2022. Then had a new start date established for when I arrived this year in November.

    Tail feather

When I took one into the local tail feather contest this year, you had to bring the whole undressed bird in and they pulled the feather. Not saying thats official or right just the way they did it. Does make some sense.

    How many birds each season?

I'm well past the pain free age! Got me a new titanium knee in February and it worked pretty well first trip to SD. Stepped in a fence line gopher hole with it and it held up ok but was a scary moment. Glad you are getting better remy and good advice on not taking our health for granted.

    Chief upland vest

Used mine for the first time last week. I've had several different vests over the decades and this one is by far the best. Incredible amount of customization with the molle system. When I ordered it I was concerned that the shoulder straps might be a little too thick and interfere with gun...

    How many birds each season?

I hunted on some friend's property years ago, about a half section with a creek down the middle. He grazed cattle on it but was smart and didn't when it was wet. It always had good cover. When he retired he sold it to the state which made it a WPA. Now 4 years later 70% of it is choked with...

    REAL South Dakota 2021 review.

Just got home. Only hunted 4 days - weather forecast ran this Southern boy out of SD and we lost half of one day to rain. My Fitbit says day one - 8.3 miles, day 2 - 11.3, day 3 - 9.1 and day 4 - 7.2. I agree with BB would much rather be hunting at the end of the day rather than a short day...

South Dakota report week of 11/1

Sitting in the motel. Rain started at 11. Only 1 bird today. Not sure if rain will stop in time to hunt anymore today. First day hunting was Sunday. First place was a quarter section I've hunted for 20 years and one of my favorites. Birds held, dogs did what their supposed to do, hunters...

    How many birds each season?

Ahhh .... You young whippernappers wait until you cross the 8th decade threshold. Just FYI its not a linear decline - its a curve sharply getting steeper. Have to admit on my January hunt in SD last year the snow drifts whipped me like never before. Thank goodness there were birds to be had. I...

    Versatile Game Vest

Just received my Chief Upland vest. Its well designed and seems well made. With the molle system its easy to customize and lots of neat features and front loading. It could also make a great turkey vest. So far -- I'm impressed. Looked on Amazon for molle accessories and there is a bunch.
