    Something different…

Very cool!!! About 6-7 years ago in ND I was solo in a WPA, opening day there, so had to be on private or WPA…birds galore, ran into 2 brothers from Wisconsin, dogless…we hooked up and soon after had 8…I had gotten one solo, but we got 7 quite fast. Good dudes!!!

4th weekend of season and the temps are warmer than a typical opening day here.

Does what we’re thinking about while hunting create bad karma events, even if we don’t shoot juvenile birds?

I’m gonna cube some today and dust it in shore lunch and fry in peanut oil as appetizers…done it before, been awhile…gonna “velvetize” (tenderize) using baking soda…see how that goes…

    28 gauge

The one 28 I own with tubes I’ve used M/M with good results hunting prairie grouse…many times the first bird to flush is 40 yards away, followed by closer flushes…but not always, obviously…I like Matt’s M/IM setup…

    28 gauge

Lost them with a 28? What did u shoot last year when u lost 15? I’ve lost birds over the years with 16’s and 12’s, course I’ve shot those gauges the most…but I’ve been around hundreds of birds shot by various shooters with 12’s that have been crippled…no assurance with 12’s that are choked...

    28 gauge

I’m not speaking from a tremendous amount of experience, but mine has been positive…I’ve used 2 3/4” #5 lead out of my Parker Repro 28 gauge choked IM/F. MattD from this forum used a 28 on his recent 13 day hunt for much of that trip with great results. I’ve got more experience using 20...

Yeah, one of my 16’s was imported by them, they imported prior to Lion Country Supply…there was another importer as well who escapes my mind…Excel arms…

Are you Break Open 2 barrel (O/U and SXS) or Autoloader guy

Yeah, Hanus’ guns were AYA’s for awhile, then Uggie’s…but LCS imported 3 grades of their box locks and about 5 grades of their sidelocks…

I’ve got 2 AYA 20 gauges, a box lock and a sidelock…a step up from Ugartechea…but both are fantastic makers from the Eibar region of Spain, where virtually all Spanish guns have come from…Grulla, Arrieta, Garbi, etc…

Are you Break Open 2 barrel (O/U and SXS) or Autoloader guy

Love my Ugartechea boxlock 28 gauge…have 3 of their boxlock 16 gauges, and 1 of their sidelock 12 gauges…great Spanish maker, great price points….think my 28 is a grade 1, extractor…

    Different states WIA programs

CREP is a strong program in SD, at least within 50 miles either side of the James River, which runs from ND to NE…lots of decent to real good CREP spots…it’s private land that’s in CRP, but open to public hunting…non-tox not required…

What’s farmland selling for in your area(s)?

I understand why all generations who farm, especially younger ones, are forced to farm every extra square inch of ground that they can. It doesn’t hurt for us hunters to know what programs are out there habitat-wise, especially for marginal farmground, and be able to talk somewhat...

Are you Break Open 2 barrel (O/U and SXS) or Autoloader guy

In September, I use S x S’s almost exclusively for prairie grouse and huns…28 gauge and 20 gauge…sometimes I’ll use O/U’s, same gauges…but not too often…about 12 days of hunting, love it more than any hunting I do. I’ve been using my Benelli ultralight 12 gauge thus far in SD…usually use some...
