    Beretta Silver Snipe

Strictly who the importer was…I have an S 56E, it’s a BL4…Garcia was the importer of the S guns…the latter may have been sold in Europe, and the BL’s US items…

    Copper Shot?

When I’ve espoused the merits of shooting at a hit bird a 2nd time, I’ve always stated only if it’s safe to do so, and obviously, if it’s even feasible to do so…some birds hit the deck too quickly…and I don’t believe I’ve attached distances to that idea…but it’d be more likely on farther, higher...

    Update from SE SD...

Saturday, Nov 22…calm wind, a bit from the NW…high 20’s early, high 30’s at 10 am, mid 50’s midday, sunny…birds seem bunched, but they’re really not, there’s just a lot of birds…good hunt, despite sub-par scenting conditions and not great shooting by several of us plus gun issues for one of the...

    Update from SE SD...

Beautiful hoarfrost this morning, 28 degrees, barely a south wind, foggy conditions…birds in cover, good conditions for dogs. Got sunny by late am…close to 50 mid afternoon. Birds bunched up, some spectacular bird congregations. Group did well again, not too many misses, I probably had the...

    Pheasant Industry in SD

I am pretty sure the state doesn’t release birds; they’d have to disclose that if so. I believe they recognize $ is better spent on habitat, which is a perpetual source of pheasants

    28 gauge

These discussions are interesting, but they omit one very important variable—are we good shots? I have a cousin I hunt with who shoots with his wife, year round…it’s their “thing”. She grew up at the Minneapolis gun club, her dad managed it after retiring. She ran 100 straight at trap at age 12...

    Trip report

If you buy a SD license on or after 12/15, you can carry the 2nd 5 days into the following season…so, you could buy a license on 12/15/25, and carry your 2nd 5 days all the way out to 1/27/27, for example…

    28 gauge

In my own case, I’m changing some of the variables, like choke…the 28 I’m using is markedly tighter with my ounce of #5 lead vs the 12 gauge I usually use with 1.25 oz of #5 lead, which is IC…probably won’t hit as many with the 28, but I expect more pellets on the the target of the birds I do...
