South Dakota Pheasant Hunting Is Changing, Or Has Changed

Economy is not helping, prices are thru the roof on just about everything. I and my 2 youngsters went to Wendy’s and cost almost $36. I bout fell over. Gas hotels shells strippers hookers all gouging the honest man. But…all it takes is one Hollywood movie to feature pheasant hunting and...

Vet near Kansas City or surrounding area

Roger that, of course it’s a good thing. I’m a lil rankled because I’ve been looking at first aid kits for the farm and they are a bit of a joke. I need legit blood stop gear and every first aid kit sold in stores amounts to boo boo band aids.

Vet near Kansas City or surrounding area

My unsolicited two cents, all you need for the field is a way to stop bleeding. Same for people. Nobody ever dies from a broken bone or sunburn. Most first aid kits are overgrown snoopy band aids. Gauze tape blood stop powder tourniquet will save lives.

Do we need to get away from plastic ?

I like finding old hullls on the farm. I always wonder if it was my Dad or Grandpa. But these are few and far between. Go to a preserve every year after season closes and the amount of hulls is disturbing. I do shoot paper a couple times a year out of a 1905 Fox. The smell is everything

How many birds do you shoot in a season?

In Ohio I’m shooting around a dozen. Add another half dozen for tag along partners.

Do we need to get away from plastic ?

The ubiquitous plastic sack hung up in the fence row is a bigger problem. I farmed 100 acres in the middle of a town of 10k people. The trash was biblical. Far and away plastic sacks and plastic bottles were the worst. Here’s the kicker, the plastics were all coming from the recycling totes...

I’ve had em hang for a day or three on the porch where it’s cool. Like other pleasures in life… just give it the ole sniff test.

    How far between gunners?

Walkers and blockers need to be close enough that any bird gets up someone has a shot. I’d say 40-50 yards or so apart.

    Strange things dogs do.

My uncle had a dog that would eat lit cigarettes. He would paw them around till it was out then eat it. If you stubbed it out then threw on the ground he would not touch it.
