    Unbiased SD report 10/22-10/25

I saw a few, even shared a duck hunt with one.

    2021 Season

My problem is I end up with a George Costanza wallet. MN hunt/fish. SD hunt/fish. ND hunt/fish. Canada licenses. Gonna have back issues!

    REAL South Dakota 2021 review.

The Todd and Chad stuff aside, OP is correct. If you come to the Dakota's to let dogs run big on open public grassland, you're going to have a bad time. If you hunt a small geographical area of public ground, you're going to have a bad time. If you are willing to drive long distances to find...

    2021 Season

I love getting into the nitty gritty details of the regs. Fwiw the dnr has "shooting hours" listed, not hunting hours. I don't think a CO would or could do anything about a person walking a field before shooting hours, as long as there's no shots fired. If I was worried I'd just leave my gun...

    ND mixed reviews

Sorry, maybe that went over your head. "Green jeans" is a nickname for a conservation officer. It just cracks me up that a person could see that picture and think it could be an infraction instead of the simplest answer: that more than one person was hunting. Of course you didn't say it was...

    October 16- today.... reports?

I hunt both sides of the border, sunrise in ND, sunset in sd. Started in ND on Friday. On one of my family's fields, we set up for ducks in ND and the birds tend to come from SD, just to give you an idea of how close to the border the family farm is.

    October 16- today.... reports?

Three guys over three days. Hunting 75% private. It's always fun shooting roosters, dog work is overall quite good. Rather surprisingly, our shooting was quite good. We let very few roosters fly away. It's a weird feeling coming back, it was a fun hunt, I just have a sinking sensation in my...

    October 16- today.... reports?

I honestly feel really bad for people making a long trip out. I hunt East River and I'm going to guess that public areas have effectively been cut in half due to grazing and haying. There just isn't much habitat to hunt. The public areas with habitat are going to get absolutely pounded, way...

    CZ woodcock over/under 12 gauge

I had a CZ over under for one season. Couldn't get rid of it quick enough. Both fit and finish were subpar. Hard safety and trigger. Poor fit for me. Spent a couple hundred extra bucks on a used 686 and I'd be happy with only ever shooting that gun. YMMV

    Base layers

In that kind of heat you're going to want to make sure you have vented pants because once you start walking you're going to be warm. Usually a thin upper layer and a thin windproof vest when I start out, this usually gets ditched in the first 20 minutes. My biggest issue is keeping my hands...

    Looking for hunting area Minnesota

All I'm saying is that any self respecting outdoorsman keeps specific areas to the private messages.

    Looking for hunting area Minnesota

You mean the counties? I don't think they list towns in the short or long roadside count. And I was specifically referencing the guy who gave a town/road/cardinal direction to a WMA that holds "lots of birds".

    Looking for hunting area Minnesota

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. A spot one hour from Minneapolis can get POUNDED when it gets listed online. At any given time there's 5 anonymous lurkers reading this for every registered member.

I HATE seeing town names listed. Keep it broad in the forum, save specifics for the private messages.

    Possession Limit

Big picture is clear, but the nitty gritty details can get confusing. For example, say I bring home 10 birds from SD, all legally taken and transported. When I get home, I quarter them up. Breasts go in one bag, thighs and legs in another. The breasts get cooked and eaten quickly, leaving just...

    Roadside Survey

Hunting teal, I was very encouraged by what we flushed up. Best was a dozen birds in 20 minutes. Lots of birds flushing at zerodarkthirty. Pup pointed a rooster at 5 am, under headlamp could just make out the red around his eye. Small birds that didn't fly far. Also, birds flushing under your...

    New upland shotgun?

I really really wanted to get an a400, but just came across too good of a deal on an ethos 20 gauge. So far it shoots pretty good, still kind of getting the feel for it. I'm usually a mid-40s on sporting clays, and the first time out with that gun I shot a high 30s so I'm not sure if it's the...

Truck Bed / Camping Van / Hunting Rig Set-Ups

You could maybe run a boot dryer off a deep cycle and inverter. No way you can run a crock pot though.
