    Sunday pheasant phun!

Since there are no hunters out on Sunday I took the dogs for a run. It didn't take them long to find some birds in the switchgrass. The day ended with a few points and 4 hens flushed. The first pair of birds were running down a mowed path through the grass: The other birds were found in a...

I wrote about the new pup I'll be getting in the PA forum but thought I would post here as well. My oldest dog is 10 and he is hunting well but I have been looking for another vizsla for a while now (the 6 year old is doing great, too). It took some time and I've declined a pup a couple of...

    Mid week hunt

I had the day off from work so I took the dogs out for some hunting. The dogs started off in the woods and I heard a rooster flush but I don't know if it was pointed or not. We kept working and now the dogs were working along a stand of switchgrass. I see Nittany go on point and Blitz honors...

They were able to get something to eat, shoot some clays and hunt some birds behind some good dogs. Here are a few pictures.

    Thursday Afternoon Hunt

I took a 1/2 day off from work and hunted for a couple hours in the afternoon. The weather cooperated and the rain stopped by late morning. The dogs had the first find quickly on the edge of the woods that produced a hen. Shortly after that came their second find. This time a big rooster...

    Saturday's Hunt

Today was day 2 of a pheasant hunt for a friend of mine and a friend of his. We started out on a Gamelands in York county that I haven't hunted for a couple of years. I wish I would have checked the area out because there was a lot of standing corn. Too much for me to enjoy the hunting. It...

    Club's youth hunt

It was a wet one in Adams county. The McSherrystown Fish and Game hosted a junior pheasant hunt along with fishing at the pond. It was a great day (except for the rain) and all the kids went home with at least one bird. They also caught some fish when they were not hunting. All the kids got...

    Summer Pheasants

I was driving along a CREP field to the back section and I saw a rooster in the grass. A hen flushed and then I got one quick picture with my phone. I used to see two hens running around together with the rooster but I have not seen the 2nd one for a couple weeks now.

Pheasnt Chicks- Hard part is over

In early May I picked up 211 day old pheasant chicks and this morning my wife and two boys helped put the blinders on the 209 we still have. This has been my best year as far as survival rates go. Some of the birds in the brooder house after we put the blinders on: A couple of more outside...

    Quail birthday gift

My wife surprised me with a birthday present for turning 40. The husband of one of her co-workers carves ducks and she had him do a quail for me. It was his first attempt at a quail and I think it looks great. The feather details were burned in by hand. It looks even better in person...
