    28 guage

I shoot a pile of roosters with a 28 and cheap ammo, range and shot placement have more to do with it than the ammo.

    Elkhart/

My friends and I shot a pile of roosters on Wiha last year in a multitude of regions and counties. Go hunt and be satisfied with the fact you put your dogs on the ground and had a chance at fair chase on wild birds. Things could possibly never turn around for the bird but should we just quit...

There are no pheasants left in Kansas according to a popular poster on this site, time to sell your guns and dogs folks..... There is no doubt habitat loss is an issue in Kansas and across America for that matter but damn there is a debbie downer problem on the kansas forum. If you scare...

    SE WY Sharptails???

A pheasant is extremely rare around there... Please do some research before hunting around there and expecting to pull a trigger. If you really want sharptails look farther north in the Thunder Basin National Grasslands........

I have a buddy that likes shooting that stuff.. We call is gun the ATM haha. I'm sure its nice stuff and love the idea of non toxic loads but I hunt too much to pay that kind of money for ammo.

GSP puppies for sale in Colorado

We had a litter of eight puppies in September that are now six weeks old. They will be ready to go home November 5th to homes that will hunt them. As of this morning there are four puppies available, one female and three males. The Dam and Sire are unregistered bird finding machines that have...

4, 5, or 6 shot for you early season pheasant hunters? And what choke are you shooting?

I'm usually hunting with a 20 or 28 gauge with skeet and improved cylinder for chokes. I hunt GSP's and I've killed 100's of pheasants with 3/4 to 1 ounce 7.5's over the years but these are birds typically rising in front of a pointing dog and shots are very close. If you were running flushers...

    Chick Sightings?

There have been areas in the NW that unfortunately haven't had enough breeding birds to make a huge impact. I know this is not breaking news but I would imagine there are a few really nice broods out there on the landscape that could help the future for better breeding if the habitat and weather...

I don't think there are any or many sharpies south of North Platte, good for chickens though!

    Kansas Hunt

I know we always laugh when the state sends out the forecast every year and says "pockets" of birds but it's usually pretty accurate. I've hunted 9 days in Kansas this season so far and have seen roosters every day out. Some fields we have seen impressive numbers despite the conditions broods...

are chokes easy to find for that gun? I don't care for extended chokes when upland hunting, grass and weeds like to get tangled between the chokes...

    Colorado Blues

Hunter for three days for sharptails and blues and saw a lot of birds! The poor sharpies we’re getting slaughtered by droves of hunters which was quite sad to see but the blue grouse in northern Colorado had an excellent hatch. Hunter big males in the high Fir forest one afternoon and did great...

northeastern, Montana October 2023 place to rent

I would try to space your hunting days out pending on your dogs condition. If it's hot hunt early mornings etc.... It doesn't need to be intimidating.. have fun and be smart and think about whats best for the dog. If you or a buddy has a deer tag that should help!

    First Kansas hunt

I’ve seen the same thing over the season as well. Some of the good pockets have been spectacular too. Had a point from my female gsp that ended with a 40 bird flush out of a thick kocia patch. Probably saw close to 100 birds in that one field. Ten miles north of there we hunted several fields...
