I have never hunted at a private lodge. I have hunt pheasants in four states (MN, ND, SD, and IA). I have had 50 - 100+ flush days in three of those states (not IA - only hunted there a day or two because I got an upland license that carried to fall with my turkey permit). Most of those 50...

SD Outfitters are mostly catering to larger groups or combined groups. Rare is the outfitter that offers self-guided hunts on wild birds for 1 - 3 people. The economics are probably just not there. They want to have groups of 8 - 20 walk a few spots, kill their limit and on to the next day...

I think many MN hunters on this site would view the Glencoe area as a day trip destination so we are not going to be much help based on personal experience.

From a few years ago now. That solo hunt lasted about 1/2 the time that it took just to drive out there.

The old school motel where you can back right up to your motel room door seems to have disappeared. They were great for ease of access and on occasion, when you wanted to grill.

That said I have watched pressured pheasants move into cover after sunset.
