My son and I and Allie were able to get out one more time last Saturday and what a day it was! We were able to get our 1st ever 2 man limit of bobwhite quail on a near perfect overcast day.Allie had one of her best days of the season and she is an incredible lab who makes it so much more fun.I'm...
I wish I could find those at our Walmart. I am beginning to feel like a hoarder but damn I don't want to use anything else. I also agree that they have the extra knock down later in the season. 6s early 5s later.
My son and I went out in the wind last Friday and limited out. It was 20 to 30mph winds but the birds were grouped up and in the heavy cover. All in all a great day.Bitter cold is predicted all this next week so hopefully it warms back up a bit later.
My son his fiance and myself went south last weekend and found several coveys of quail and a few roosters and seen a bunch of hen pheasants also. We ended up with 10 quail and 3 roosters and had a great time. Allie "the lab" and Sissy "the lab/coon dog mix" did great. And the best part of the...

I bought 6 boxs of 6s and usually I use an IC choke. I will sometimes put in a modified later in the season but I have noticed a lot of guys shoot a more open choke with the faster ammo.
I bought 4 boxs and will give it a try next season. Thanks for all the advice guys. I hope ammo will be more available soon but I am going to try and pick up what I can when I can.
I have noticed that a lot of guys recommend using a more open choke like IC with the faster loads and just wondering why? Thanks for the advice on the Kent shells also, it sounds like they are a great pheasant getter.
Anyone use this stuff? I'm thinking about ordering some 6 shot 2 3/4" but I have never used it before. I usually use prairie storm but its getting almost impossible to find.
Southern Iowa and northern Missouri quail are decimated. I bet numbers are down 50-75% from just a couple years ago.
What do you think is the reason? Weather or habitat or predators or a combo of all 3???
