I had an Alps, nice vest but got to hot for me and sold it, the Chief Upland reminds me of the Alps so I imagine it's just as hot which is a no go for me. Bought a Q5 Centerfire really like that but lost a bunch of weight and it didn't fit anymore so I sold that one too. Just got a Final Rise...
Well I ended up picking up a little male Brittany from Gilmore's Brittanys on Sunday. The family is already in love however if he continues to keep me up all night he and I may start having problems lol. Meet Doc!
Bump for more ideas, found some well bred pointers in MN that would be ready for Christmas but not sure I trust the post on Facebook. I sent Chuck a message tonight to pick his brain a little on the Brittany's.
Only a few times a year if I'm lucky, I have an old pointer now and I would like another but I think the next one will be up to the family not just me and a Brittany intrigues them.
I have a lightly used Q5 Centerfire for sale, 2 water bottle holders, 2 shell pouches, hand held pouch, and accessory clips. Belt is the 36"-43" size. $300 local pickup in S. WI preferred but will ship. Get it before the season starts!
Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon 1 was my choice, got it a few years ago and it's an absolute joy to shoot it is easily my favorite gun. Mine has the schnabel forend which I like but they don't make it that way anymore.
I really want to not sure I will be able to though, mine is 11 now and unfortunately I don't to have a ton of time to hunt as it is. I feel though if I don't have a dog the desire to go will be less and less. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment.
Sent my dog with a friend of mine this weekend, they limited out on woodcock one day, and a few more the next day plus a few grouse. They avoided the pheasant crowds.
OP doesn't want to spend that much unfortunately, Final Rise looks like a great vest but pricey. If I had waited a year I probably would have bought one of those instead of the Q5. Crazy how the vest market went from 2-3 major players to an explosion last year and now there are 6-7 good options...
My Friend's Wife still has it but if I remeber correctly is weighed in at about 6.5 lbs or just a touch lighter, it is a 28in barrel. The upland or extreme versions may weigh a bit more as the lite is a Plain Jane black synthetic model.
I have the a400 lite 20 with the KO, I don't get to shoot it much by my friend's wife has been shooting a trap league with it and she has no complaints. They've been trying to buy it off me for her but I'm not ready to let it go. She was shooting a Browning BPS 20 and only hitting 5 targets per...
Stocking trucks run most of the fall and isn't published, someone always seems to find out when they are going and guys follow them around and pretty much shoot the birds off the truck. If your friend is seeing birds now he may be in one of the areas that still holds wild birds. Keep your mouth...
I've hunted KS 3 times now in December, twice solo, and gotten my butt kicked each time but I had a blast. I have seen birds each time but be prepared to put in the work. I'd be more successful if my gun shot straight.
