Another system may drop significant rain in the region today, tomorrow, and into Wed.
They are predicting over 2 inches here in MN from this by Wednesday afternoon. It would be a slow, steady rain too which is the most ideal for the landscape.
Looks like a possible shift in pattern starting Thursday/Friday. The forecast I saw is predicting a couple of inches of rain for a sizable portion of central South Dakota.
Ah yes, the dreaded drought thread.
It's dry in western MN too. Eastern half is in good shape, but the western portion needs it. And I'm seeing 90+ degrees for a few days early next week...
Awesome. Once a guy gets the will power to knock on doors, it often opens up opportunities for years. My guess is that landowner is going to allow him back next season, and beyond, assuming he doesn't abuse it. Same concept can be applied pheasant hunting in the fall.
Unreal.
Although I find it very difficult to think that a single pellet would be fatal for a turkey, it if was placed exactly in the head, it might work. Shameful.
After 3.5 days of hunting and over 90 turkeys later, I dusted this tom at 45 yards this morning around 8am. My patience finally paid off. He came in following 3 hens.
The amount of wildlife I have seen in a few days is astonishing. Over 90 turkeys, about 25 deer, and too many pheasants to...
I have seen and heard a lot of pheasants the past couple days while turkey hunting, both roosters and hens.
If we get some decent nesting/reproduction in June, this upcoming season will be just as good as last season, maybe even better.
These mild snowless winters are probably causing little...
The problem with the pills is that the tick has to bite the dog for it to work. They don't do anything to actually repel ticks. The dog could be covered in them when they come in the house. That is a big no no for my wife. She would freak if she saw a bunch of ticks in the house.
I don't agree or disagree with it, I was just communicating what the rule was.
I really have no interest in bringing my dog with turkey hunting. Patience is the name of my game, not run and gun.
I haven't seen any yet but its still been getting below freezing here at night on occasion.
I applied the chemicals to the dog's back last week just in case though.
I've been there. Lots of stuff to buy and look at. I think there is an entry fee charge and maybe one for parking now too though, so unless you have the intent of buying something, it's probably not worth just going and looking around.
I've had decoys (and calls) completely turn birds off. The very next hunt I completely stopped using both and would just sit there silently waiting for one to walk past within range on a daily travel route. It's like "turkey hunting for deer." Lots of waiting. Kind of boring, but I've got a...
Basically the complete opposite of how I hunt, but that's OK. There's lots of strategies to turkey hunt.
I like using a portable blind. Its waterproof and the interior is non-reflective black. I put a comfy chair in there too. Gives me some leeway on movement so I can use binoculars or...
I know there's a number of spring turkey hunters here. Let's hear about your plans to hunt, stategies, success, and failures.
I intend to hunt Season B here in MN which is at the end of the month.
Gobble gobble
None of this is relevant because it's not your land. It's someone else's. They can do as they please within the confines of the law. Private land is private land and unless you have permission to be on it, stay off it.
As for someone charging people to access their land, I don't agree with...
