Remember, if you get a Draathar you will need to work on your attitude :). You need to be able to sneer and say in a condescending tone "it is NOT a GERMAN WIREHAIR it is a DRAATHAR hair".
There have been multiple sightings recently just east of Long Siding, near the Rum River as well as possible sighting south of 94 near Clearwater. I doubt the the DNR wants to release a new range map!!
In my part of the world, a tick borne disease would be #1 on the list.
PS Ticks tend to beat the first robin by 2 weeks. It is not unusual to have snow banks and ticks at the same time.
Crane Wreckers in Ok if you don't mind leaving TX. I have hunted with Monte (one of the original owners) many times and he was a first rate guide for any fish or fowl. He is no longer guiding but I assume his partner is similar in skills.

I forgot one of my favorite year around items for the dogs. I hang one on each kennel door when its warm out. The big batteries will go all day.
PS they work good in the hotel too
Cable cutter, just in case of a snare. Nitrile gloves and trash bags for cleaning birds. And when my vet isn't hunting with me I have a really nice first aid kit.
Puppy update:
Just for fun last weekend I entered Doc (AKA Smash Panda) in the puppy stake at Central Minnesota Retriever Clubs informal trial. Honestly I looked at it as a donation to the club.
The little guy showed me so many positive things.....I know he's very young and the road ahead is...
Sheesh guys, its February in MN. $15 is peanuts to get out of the house! Heck I just paid that for a meatball dip, it was delicious but only lasted 10-15 minutes.
I got it, and appreciated it. Much like Carptoms comment.
You do know that god only made yellow labs to keep the flies off the black ones, and chocolates are the duck billed platypus of the dog world. :) Smiley face for butt hurt avoidance
I like Jenga a lot! Plus Bill is a stand up guy. I don't know much about Drakes bay unfortunately.
I had Rue for a few months when she was just a youngster, and had the privilege of handling her to her Senior Hunter at 8 months old. She was special from day one.
Best movie ever
The Pup is AKC registered "Glen Edin's everyday is a Holiday" call name Doc.
PS He's one of them expensive some might say "very expensive" AKC dogs :)
I know this isn't what your looking for but...
An underused marketing tool is being a small/occasional breeder that has time to dedicate to the pups. I.E. raised in the house with the family etc. A breeder the spends a ton a time with the pups is crazy valuable to me. Heck the last 2-3 pups...
I have but I don't anymore, it feels a little to much like shooting a dog. Plus there are a lot of risks involved, for the gundogs and hunting companions.
