    Old photos

I did not find any real old ones as my first of 1958, but have some good old memories of great hunts. My 15 minutes of fame hunting with Tom Brokow. He is on far right and I am in the middle. Tune in on the bird to the far right and see if you can zoom in. It is huge, the biggest bird I have...

    Uncle Buck 1958

Well, here it is! First known photo of Uncle Buck with pheasant harvest. White Lake SD, Pooch Peters farm. I-90 now runs less than 200 yards South of the spot where pic taken. 1956 Dodge was the second family car we ever owned. Note older car thru window and the chick in the window eyeballing me.

    Last Pudelpointer Hunt

12/29 was my last day out. The "young guy's" in our group chased about 150 birds out of some trees to better cover across the road where they dispersed nicely. In the last strip of CRP on the west, about 150 yards wide I would walk about 20 yards, let the dog cover on both sides of me, and...

Last minute reflections on the sd 2010 season

My advice for what it is worth. Will be a good season, better than last if the weather is favorable. The crops are coming out, but it will get better as the season goes on. You do not have to be here for the opener unless you enjoy the traditional aspects. I will go to Mitchell/Artesian...

    Sd cast and blast

Turkeys 1, uncle buck 0. Had better luck with the cast part and caught some nice walleyes. Did anyone else from sd think the turkeys may have taken a hit over the winter? I was in gregory co. Saw alot of dead deer carcasses.

    Latest on Pheasant survival.

Birds in my neighborhood, NW of Sioux Falls not doing too bad. See birds by a small slew with some really high and good low cover that has not filled in. I would guess there are at least 30 birds around my neighbors where he is feeding cattle. I gave them some corn yesterday. Before the bad...

    SD Update

Dug my way out to road late yesterday and thought I would go have a toddy at my local bar, Critters in Crooks. Went about 3 miles, halfway and decided I best return home as while I could get there, I might not get back do to drifting. I do get cabin fever. This is also going to mess-up lake...

    45 Minute Hunt in Backyard

I have been frustrated by birds in my "backyard", about 40 acres of creek slew and grass only 13 acres of which are mine. The birds were not pressured at all until after Thanksgiving when most of the corn got out. There are still two fields unfinished on the south end of what is huntable. Last...

A South Dakota Pilgram's Thoughts on Kansas

Back from a 3.5 day hunt in Kansas. The trip back thru 9 hours of snow was the only negative. Kansas is currently blessed with an abundance of cover well suited for the pointing dog enthusiast. Not bad for you retriever types either. The WHIA are great as far as I am concerned, exceeding SD in...

    Look Out Kasas

The Pudelpointers will be invading Kansas next weekend. Sworn to secrecy on location, but mentioned fairly often recently. I am intrested in quail, not the Rooties so much. they got the corn out of my backyard and I went hunting yesterday for the last hour. Was only gone 45 minutes! ________ Buy...
