I just looked at this area on the maps and there's about 3 public spots. So I figure you either need to get on some mint private ground, or hunt one of those plush hunting lodges where the in-crowd all carry 28ga guns. They drive to the outfitters lodge in late-model suburbans, and from there they board a school bus to the happy hunting grounds. Pssst! This isn't really hunting, but don't tell them that, don't want to deflate any egos.

I once had a guy fly me into Mitchell in a private jet. He just brought the plane and his boys wanted to go pheasant hunting. Someone gave him my number and figured I might know where to go. I met them at the airport at 8 am we flew to Chicago and picked up another son. We landed in Mitchell he had a 4-4 van warmed up and waiting. We stopped at Cabela picked up some shells and a license. I took them around to some of my better places. We hunted until about 5, grabbed some dinner. Then we flew to Kansas City and dropped a guy off. Then back to Grand Rapids. I was back home by 10 pm and went to work the next day. I told him anytime just don’t ask me to pay for gas. Never saw him again.

I knocked on a few doors in that area what I went to that Gucci ranch 20 years ago. They all wanted money.
