Trip 12/8 - 12/12

I just left South Dakota after a week stay. Yesterday I hunted in the Groton area, which is just West of Webster. The snow depth in Groton was up to my knees and most walking was post hole walking. I would say snow depth 9-10 inches.
Aberdeen area is also been hit with deep snow.
I also stopped North of Sioux Falls and the snow there is only about an half inch.
Good luck. There are bunches and bunches of birds just need to get to them through the snow

12/ 8 -12 good for you. It'll start sloppy warm and turn cold, You'll get the full SD experience, Plenty of roosters, in spots. The weather has concentrated the birds and when you find some you might find a lot at once. With the snow there are no secrets, Birds leave sign. Wear your Alphaburlys & warm your hands on hot barrels
Welcome to the jungle

If you are still going ... or are out there now ...

I would make sure you have everything in your vehicle to spend a night in the boonies. Water (not frozen), blankets / bags, food, extra dry clothing ... etc...

Be ready to get stuck and unstuck.

Never pass a gas station without topping off your gas tank.

Make sure your spare is ready to go.

I would hunt this type of weather growing up in ND for one day here and there - benefit of living where you hunt. Can't imagine pushing through 5 days of it.

We got out here Sunday.
Very limited on where you can go and hunt in the area we are in.
Successful day yesterday.
Not sure what our plan is for the rest of the week.....we may just hunker down and head home. It's only pheasant hunting, not worth damaging vehicles, injuries or worse in less than subpar weather conditions.

Very huntable over the past week in the part of E/SE SD I’m in, but that means little at this point with the blizzard that’s coming, though the snow on the ground has a bit of a crust, so I hope it won’t blow around too much…more snow coming Saturday, maybe 5-6”….winter’s here. Hunting was excellent, birds were bunched, and with habitat around, could be followed reasonably well in the grass and food plots and cedars. Not many hunters around…

I just saw six guys from washington, I could tell they were total greenhorns.
