My Lab is from a breeder in Marshalltown! It is a cool area, but I think you are better off with going more NW like you have talked about. it was about an 8hr drive for me to go get the pup. I too have been thinking about making a hunting trip up that way. I usually hunt NW Kansas and South Dakota.

I shoot the 16ga White Lightening and really enjoy it. I only shoot a 1oz load of #6 shot for pheasants. It does a great job on the birds.

Well said, Gatzby. I am very fortunate to have a Lab that is a crazed marker. I suggest starting slow and easy. Large white or black/white bumpers in short grass. Nice and short throws. Be very focused on the mark process and do only a few at a time. You might try incorporating a "mark" command...
