    Older retriever

Average life span for golden retrievers is 10 to 12 so I'd say 8 is on the older side, especially since his owner (me) let's him eat to many table scraps and i don't exercise him enough in the hot summers. From what I've read, the best bet is to get glucosamine pills for the dog. Rimadyl does...

    Older retriever

haha yes I have allowed him to be overweight. To many table scraps. However he is 8 and is looking pretty old. I do agree with you that I still have enough time to get him where I want him to be. We do 2 cups a day of large breed senior blue Buffalo. It has some glucosamine in it but I may get...

I appreciate all the responses. I will certainly use them and first and foremost get my vets opinion on what I'll be putting in my dogs body.

I've had some allergy issues in the summer. Not too much with hot spots though. I'm interested in the cbd oil as I've heard that helps for skin problems.

    Older retriever

I havent weighed him recently but he was around 88 lbs before and should be closer to 70. I'm not expecting him to be back in his prime and I won't over hunt him at all, but we'll be going a couple days in a row and I don't want him to just be dead after a half day.

    Older retriever

I have an 8 year old overweight Golden retriever who is a house pet at least 350 plus days a year. I'm planning to get out more this year. I already have some hunts planned and I'd like to get him in shape for the season. I'm looking for suggestions. Right now my plan is to try and do lots of...

    Bob brown

No I didn't end up getting up there. I doubt I will now but still a couple weekends left of quail season.

    Bob brown

Thank you guys. I appreciate the input. If I draw in to duck hunt that might take most my time anyway. Any suggestions for places to stay cheap around there that allow dogs? Also I was serious that I did get into covey's in Southwest Missouri. I don't really have much to compare it to but I...

    Bob brown

I know this is a little bit of internet scouting but updland guys don't seem to be as picky about their spots as deer or duck guys. I'm hoping to go up to Bob brown for a weekend. The plan is to try and draw in for duck and then afternoon upland hunt or morning if we don't draw in. Is Bob brown...

    Muddy Creek Kennel GSP

I had a buddy get a dog from here and he would NOT recommend them. There was some sort of inbreeding where he got his dog with issues from the start. It passed away before the age of 4 because of that issue. He loved the dog but said their breeding practices we're unethical.

    Woodcock in Missouri

It really depends on the time of year. Typically middle November is when they migrate through. We go to quail areas not to far from Springfield every year on Thanksgiving and we usually end up getting in to one or two woodcock and that's not spending much time in the woods since we are typically...

    Dog not hunting

Yes when they growled and kind of snapped at each other we pulled them away from each other. After we separated them they played again later. But with it being a boy and girl and a young girl at that, it would be less likely to be about dominance. However he is an only dog and is always trying...

    Dog not hunting

So went out on the quail opener here in Missouri. Had a friend come up with Arkansas with his 1 year old female GSP. I had my 3 year old male Golden Retriever. My dog still likes to play like a puppy so he loved the 1 year old. They played at the house. However at one point they kind of got into...

    mo survey

Can you post a link to it? I think I saw the one you were talking about though. From what I read the hatch success rate was bad but the adult survival rate was good so birds that survived last year should still be there. During dove season I heard them whistling, so I hope they're out there...

1 year old dog seems to have no birdyness?

I would definitely get it on some birds by itself. I would think that in a controlled situation any dog would at least get curious with the bird, get the scent and want to chase it around. Continual praise and rewards when around the bird. Even though it may not have acted gun shy when the guns...
