I'll stick with steel. I have had good luck with it as I believe I've found the right size for my chokes. My son has fixed chokes in his shotgun so he's been trying non-steel, non-lead options. He likes bismuth so far.
I usually shoot the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant Loads which are nickel plated lead. So these are not legal on public land?
No, non-toxic shot is not necessarily required for upland bird hunting on ALL public hunting land in SD. You can use lead on quite a bit of the public land.
The various types of public land are color coded. The Public Hunting Atlas has the color coded Legend at the bottom of each map sheet in the Atlas.
