I'll stick with steel. I have had good luck with it as I believe I've found the right size for my chokes. My son has fixed chokes in his shotgun so he's been trying non-steel, non-lead options. He likes bismuth so far.

Anything gotta beat steel impact wise the hevi shot on birds u tickle with steel they fall it pack more a puch but I can't afford to shoot 40-50 birds a season with it so bbismuth the next to be tried out ...

All my old Ithaca's are fixed chokes 1 is a poly choke

I usually shoot the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant Loads which are nickel plated lead. So these are not legal on public land?

No lead on state land...

No, non-toxic shot is not necessarily required for upland bird hunting on ALL public hunting land in SD. You can use lead on quite a bit of the public land.

The various types of public land are color coded. The Public Hunting Atlas has the color coded Legend at the bottom of each map sheet in the Atlas.

Private land open to public land lead OK... State run lands steel... Fed lands lead OK.. . different types of public land has different rules...

Yes sir... Also mostly leased to private land holders to farm or graze...
