spoke to a friend today who was a guest at a hunting camp that owns about 3k acres right in that area...they don't have all that ground in habitat, but a good amount is....bottom line, they are killing about 1/3 of what they normally would looking back over the past decade...the hunt my friend was on produced about 1.5 birds per hunter per day...i hunt west of howard and I would say it is a bit better than last year but not by much...way down from 3, 4, 5 years ago...lots of habitat has been lost...still fun, still birds if you are willing to work...I returned last night from extreme NW ND...wow...what a contrast as far as habitat, and also, birds..go figure...habitat = birds! blinding flash of the obvious!!!!! Montana was very impressive as well that way...
