I was out with my son for the youth opener this past weekend. We hunted the mornings and evenings because of the temperature and the corn. I have not been out over the youth opener in the past as he just started hunting this year.
We saw quite a few birds. Overall I do think its down but the birds certainly are around. I saw very few of this years birds that had any color to them at all. We did get up some old birds but I would have to say at least 80% of the birds we flushed were the size of a partridge with no color.
In the area we hunted there was obviously a very late hatch.
