I hunted a place that advertised all wild pheasants.
They had awesome habitate ,farmed
for the birds12,000 acres,food plots all over,standing
milo thick CRP.What we saw were all roosters and a lot of
Them. The birds mostly held tight in this cover great for dogs
Found out they raise baby pheasants and release them at 4 weeks old
into there habitat they don't have to go anywhere everything they
need is there so they consider this birds raised in wild
What do you think Wild or not
Everyone there limited out each day 40-50 hunters

The birds are pen raised. I would question them releasing at 4 weeks of age. I doubt that. Do your self a favor and do some research on pen raised pheasants, the mortality, when is best time to release, flight conditioning. Calling them wild birds, just because you find them out in the wild, does not make it so.

I think that's SOP for big outfits in the Dakotas.

The place is in Kansas it is called Uplandhunt inn. They are a featured hunt
On this site. This is much better than game farm birds.I have two dogs a lab which is good on pheasants and a 8 month old pudelpointer on her first
Hunt.It is a great place to introduce a pup.First day she just went nuts pointing everything but pheasants second day started chasing and flushing running birds
And made a few retrieves .third day lights turned on started pointing and holding for short time shot a few over her.
Told guides that I did not want to shoot any birds unless it was over my dogs. That was no problem I just walked a couple of hundred yards away
From group.

Since your asking, I would never consider those wild pheasants. No doubt any type of hunt or retrieve is good for dogs tho.

Well thanks for the response i have to agree that they are not wild birds.
One thing I found is that even if they were wild there were to many pheasants.
It kind of took the challenge out of the hunt.If you missed one no big deal
You would get another shot next 100 yards.Buy noon almost everyone
Had limited out.It was not how many birds did you get but what time did you limit out. There was no feeling of accomplishment and pride about your hunting skills or your dogs skills.I hunted there for 4 days then took a day off and hit a public walk in area.very large area walked about 5 miles and shot two roosters and two quail missed 5 or 6 shots at more quail
And was pissed i missed.Any way it was much more rewarding.
