Wild bobwhite quail may be returning to Pennsylvania

Yet again another step in the right direction! The Game Commission has it's mojo working. They will mostly likely create a wqra and that definitely has a nice ring to it!

I think the big reason for choosing this site was the fact that there was habitat already in place. It's kind of sad to think that there are no wild quail left in Pa.,it wasn't that long ago when I can remember a few still in Berks County.
Let's bring this bird back to Pennsylvania where he belongs whatever it takes!

I'm glad to see the PGC is heading in the right direction with this. I grew up in Western PA, and over the years became a staunch critic of the PGC and the spending of license funds. (I used to be a Steelhead guide in NW PA, so my criticism usually was directed at the fishing side of the house).

I was extremely upset when the PGC decided to sell off game lands to build an office complex. As that area was one of the better pheasant producing areas close to Pittsburgh, not to mention yours and my license $$ goes towards the purchase of the game lands.

Over the last several years some of the improvement projects, reintroduction efforts, and general decision making of the PGC have turned my views for the better. Things are looking up, maybe in a few years I'll be able to make a trip home to hunt quail!

Welcome to the site Jake, I haven't always agreed with the PGC over the years, but lately we've been very fortunate to have members that understand what small game hunting means to the heritage of hunting in general in Pa..

this is great. I have never been on the Ft. Indiantown Gap Installation but I would like to see it sometime. I wonder what 4500 acres of native grassland habitat looks like?
