What the heck is going on...

I've been called on four GSP rescues over the last 10 days in Amarillo. We have found 3 of them temporary homes; however, I may keep one. People need to realize, it's a 100-mph bird dog...don't get one if you can' handle them.

WoooooSaaaaa....OK; Rant over...

Here is Jet. He's learned his new name in two days, can walk to heal and is getting better at "no". I'm guessing 2-3 years old, solid liver with a little star on his chest. Beautiful and well behaved. Him and my boy Jax have hit it off. My old guy Taz is a little grumpy! Sorry about kennel pic, all I have at this time.

Good job. Nice looking dog. I've always liked solid liver GSPs.

I don't blame you for the rant. I see people all the time on a GWP facebook group looking for a pup because "They are just so darn cute." I try to make sure they know how active these hunting dogs are but they just see a cute puppy. I don't think most understand that a dog that can run 10 miles or more a day is not satisfied by a short walk once or twice a week.

Ahhh how right you are. I have been in the Horse and dog world for a long time. And I've seen more unhappy people because they bought off of looks.

The best gift I received was my GSP. My wife surprised me with her to fill the void left behind by the death of the other girl in my life. A thirteen year old Blue heeler, that was as hard working as she was loyal. Since then I've learned what energy really is in a dog. I ignorantly thought I knew. However the energy is well used every day as my children (the two legged ones) love playing with her, although they have to take turns between the four of them because they wear out well before the dog :p

It still blows my mind how my wife picked out such a well bred, hard hunting, gentle natured dog on her own  And kept it a secret??? But I sure am glad she did :10sign:

I think most of us would agree...you don't pick the dog; the dog picks you!
