What grass to plant

I'm putting in a 20 acre wetland. about 3-4 acres will be slough. but I have about 2-3 acres that will hold water in bigger rains for 2 weeks or better. I purchased the PF premium nesting cover mix for 14 acres. but i'm not sure what grass I should put in the 2-3 acres. I was thinking brome grass but on some other threads on here that might not be such a good idea bc it sounds like it could take over my other grasses. Would switchgrass be an option? I would like to see half cattails and grass.

Cattails should show up with little help. I would think twice about the PF mix if it has any C rye in it or virgina rye Ditch it..... If not plant on. Switch holds up in lower wet ground better, Blue big or small will not stay in areas of standing water. Thats what I got from my seed grower. Yea brome sucks.

Cattails, I love'em. I think I would go for winter over nesting cover.

Look at Kanlow switch grass if you want something with the height and stalk strength of cattails. Do understand that cattails reduce the quality of wetlands for waterfowl and fish. Many other emergent and submerged plants are more beneficial to both over cattails. Yes, pheasants can survive well in cattails when the weather gets bad, but those cattails are a management problem in many respects.
