Waterfowl Lease Recommendations

Hello Gents,

I know it's a bit late but I'm looking into paying to play this year for waterfowl and am wondering if anyone could recommend a good lease for me and a friend to join somewhere north of Denver along the front range. Duck and goose options preferred but we're mostly interested in ducks. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Here's to a productive bird season for all.

Are you looking for a place because you want to hunt close to home or because you are new to the area and don't know of many good public spots? I can see maybe a pit for geese, but there is some decent public for ducks and some ok spots to lock up a few geese. I always enjoyed the challenge of finding good spots on public land that not many people wanted to hit because it was a little work! My best hunts for ducks all have come from public land and I have private spots and even a warm water slough. Still, the public spots I have found out shine the private most of the time. However, the private is close to home!

Bleu, thanks for the reply. It's all about proximity to home. I have had successful hunts on public but plenty of unsuccessful ones as well. I'm in fort collins and our local public spots are few and get hit hard.

Agreed! You need to get away from the City quite aways for good public hunting. The days of hitting the spots around Greeley and Ft. Morgan for ducks on public is a crap shoot at best these days. I used to do well for Teal and a few Woodies at Frank SWA. Not even sure it is open to hunting anymore. I have not even done well on private the last 5-6 years for ducks. It gets expensive anymore to get into a pit for geese, unless you split it with some buddies! I will keep my ears open....
