weather in NC Iowa
Coming out from PA to hunt some phez in NC Iowa, hows the snow cover? Be out between Christmas and New Year. Looks like a good week according to the advanced weather forecast, hope this is correct. Hunted SD before Thanksgiving, warm but did well. Trying to get my 11 month old Britt on as many wild birds as possible.

NC has had a fair amount of snow and had probably 6 to 8 inches generally but this warm stretch will not be good if you like snow cover. It is supposed to rain on Sunday so that won't help the snow cover either. If there is snow left after Sunday it looks like it will be there for a while.

Christmas week hunt
My son and I headed to NC Iowa the 26th to the 31 for a 4 1/2 hunt. Hunted south of forest city found the conditions to be tough, 4 to 8" of crusted snow. Birds were running on the snow, found hen to rooster ratio about 1 to 15. Logged 50 miles between us bagging 10 roosters, had great dog work on hens little 11 month old brittany did very well, but got quit beat-up hunting in these conditions. Very please with the dog and had a great hunt. Great hunting and spending time with your son doing something you both enjoy. Hunted all public ground, would like to hunt the area earlier with better conditions. Will be back in Iowa next seasons. Happy Holidays to all!

Hunted all public land, first time in Iowa have not made any connections with land owners. My son and I mostly hunt public, do quite well in SD and NE. Last year we did get permission to hunt some farms in SD, bird overload for the dogs! LOL
