WANTED places to hunt

We are planning a trip to SD for OCT or NOV. We ran public land last year and the hunting was okay. Wondering where we should try this year. Should we stick to public or try private?? Not looking for a place that is going to break the bank to hunt. We will have 3-5 people and 6-8 dogs (most are young pups that need birds/worked). Any suggestions??

If you know of places and you did OK last year, I would mostly stay with that.

Very late in the season may be a good choice for a hunt, providing there's not a mountain of snow et al. And review the road survey and SD publications.

Most hunters that have a private arrangement, at a low price, probably aren't going to reveal this to the public. It's been my experience that there's nothing like doing your own research: knock on doors, visit with townspeople, check with the Chamber, purchase plat maps with phone numbers. This has been a part of my research over the years, maybe it will help you.
