Great video 1pheas4. The first introduction of the True Pheasant to Europe took place between 500 and 800 AD by the Romans. They were all ringless for hundreds of years. The pheasants were all Caucasus Pheasants (P. c. colchicus) and around 1275 Marco Polo introduced the Chinese Ring-necked pheasant and the Mongolian Ringneck to the wild gene pool in Europe.
Now as you can see from the video they are close to 50% ringless and 50% ringneck, hen all look alike. So most of Europe have a fine amalgamation True Pheasant strains.
I remember seeing pheasants feeding like that when I was in the army stationed in Germany. I would try to get close to those pheasants out there but they were wild and would flush and run for cover.
nice video. Typical Germany. Wild game right next to populations and roads. Somehow they just seem to be able to get along over there.
Nice tail feathers on that dude!
