Hi Everyone,
New to the forum. I used to frequent pheasantcountry.com, but hadn't been on in a while since I haven't been able to pheasant hunt the last couple of years. Glad this site is around!
We have a program on Fox Sports called Veteran Outdoors, we take wounded combat veterans on their dream hunting and fishing trips.
We have been invited to come up to De Smet to do some pheasant hunting in a couple of weeks, and will be joining 9 wounded veterans. I am really looking forward to chasing some pheasants again.
Thanks for the message board and thanks to everyone who posts good intel! I'm sure I will spend quite a bit of time on the site now that I have found it!

That is great! I'd like to take some vets hunting some time (not necessarily wounded ones). I'm mostly interested in taking the children of those currently overseas or anyone that has been killed in the line of duty. There are ways to get lists from local bases from what I've heard. I have yet to contact them though as I'm not sure what to expect. Either way, enjoy your hunt. As Croc said, it should be a rewarding experience.

Thanks for the welcome! The experience of taking our heroes on a trip is one that will change your life. It definitely puts our little problems into perspective! If interested, you can catch the show on Fox Sports Saturday mornings at 7.

Kansasbrittany,
Taking kids of our troops that are deployed as well as kids of our fallen is an excellent idea. Having Dad or Mom deployed for a long time is tough on the kids. Even tougher, is knowing that Mom or Dad isn't coming home. Spending time with the kids and getting them out to the outdoors is a big help! The toughest job in the military is being a military spouse or child. If you would like some help in going about this let me know, I can put you in touch with a couple of groups that do things like this.

It's up to us as individual citizens to provide these experiences for our heroes. The military is good at providing the tools for our soldiers to physically rehab, but often times the mental aspect is overlooked. Whether it's someone who is active duty, retired, wounded, kids etc, they all deserve to be thanked for their service.

Bstritt, I tip my hat to you for doing this for our vets. I think that what you are doing is a wonderful thing. KB, I could probably help with providing some land for the children of our deployed or fallen soldiers. Just let me know. Bstritt, on a side note, welcome to UPH, it's a great site with a great group of individuals......

Upland Hunting for Wounded Vets

I've wondered if a four wheeler or a small tractor with a front loader could be modified to load ironsided vets for some upland hunting.

Bless you and Bless the men and women that serve! Please give them my thanks and hope they have an exciting time! Hope you enjoy the site. It's something that I look forward to each day when available! Looking forward to hearing from you about the hunt! Good luck and have a great season.

Thank You

From an Active duty Veteran and Soldier, A sincere Thanks for what you do! Your exactly right, the military can physically rehab a Soldier but can't always help with the mental side. There is one thing that I seem to hear alot of, and that's "Thank you for your service" and it's great to hear that but I'm hear to say "Thank You" to all of the organizations and individuals that support Soldiers. You all make life much easier and more enjoyable to Soldiers and their familys Once again a BIG THANKS! Oh yeah Welcome to the Forum!!!
PS: Bstritt if you get some time I would like to hear more about your organization and how I could possibly help.
