I've been taking these mid-Sept trips forever. From the 06 trip.

This is true native grasslands.

Enhanced by these man made dams.

Always a remote camp. 30 miles of gumbo road and 10 miles of high center 2 track. No phone and no people.

Time to clean the game and supper.

Yup this is Montana. Far Western ND has some country like this. Montana has a lot.
The way my hunts for Sharptails usually go.
Sharptails in Sept are in family groups, often several family's. These groups break up when flushed and singles and small groups scatter usually landing in small thickets or heavy cover. I keep the dog close, approach a likely spot. The Lab flushes the birds, I'm all thumbs, shoot in the general direction. sometimes getting a hit.:cheers:
