Yep I was there this year and they have recovered a little , it has a long way to go . Advice above is sound for this area . You might call the state and some of the Biolgist and ask what areas to focus on .
Agree with the others, spent 2 full days in and around Trego hunting WIHA in mid-Dec. Hit some really nice looking properties. We put up 5 birds across the two days.
Killed two roosters and lost one in three days of hard hunting. Probably laid eyes on 12 pheasants total. Quail were definitely up. Seems like last time we hunted in Trego there wasn't much cover and mostly crops.
Never hurts to go out and learn the land though. Even if your trip isn't a shoot em up , you will gain experience. The learning curve trip is what we lable the first time we go anywhere.
