Traumatic or Spontaneous Pneumothorax

noticed my little buddy was off food last weekend. chistmas monday was breathing shallow . tuesday morning got pee and poop samples, vet says bad kidney/ urinary infection, ok. next morn really shallow breathing obvious distress, back to vet. xray shows air in chest cavity. off to emergency vet. xray, ct, sonogram show nothing except 14 liters extra air in his chest cavity. no source. 2hrs after ct scan, blood shows up in the chest. no source. continues making air and blood until 8pm 200-300ml. 4 days and a fortune later hes back home. wore out and probably begging to hunt in a day or two. best guess from the emergency vet, either traumatic or spontaneous closed pneumothorax, ( no open wound compressed air in chest cavity). will definitely buy veterinary insurance if theres a next one. fungal infection, bacterial infection worms, bleeding disorder and ehrichiosis tests still out. anybody have experience with that, noticed a similar post from 5-6 years ago?
