trade hunts

Hey guys, I am new to the board. 31 year old living in North Mississippi and working in Memphis, Tn. Married and have just recently had my first little hunting partner (8 wks old) :10sign:. Have decided those are the greatest blessings on this earth.. Anyways here in Mississippi we have a ton of deer/duck hunting but no pheasant hunting which I thoroughly enjoy. I have hunted several times in Kansas. Would anybody be interested in trading a deer hunt in Mississippi for a pheasant hunt in SD. The deer hunting would be on private property and I can almost assure you a deer (99.9999% success rate lol). Just looking to start getting into some more frequent pheasant hunting opportunities!!

You may find that a difficult trade as we have so many deer here in SD I can't see someone venturing to Mississippi to shoot one. You can buy multiple tags here and shoot almost as many as you want. And generally private land isn't a big issue to get on to deer hunt as the landowners want them thinned out. But you never know, they just might be someone that would enjoy a different place to hunt deer. Good luck.

Did not realize the deer hunting was so plentiful in SD, or better yet did not know they had such liberal game laws. From my experience deer hunting in kansas was like signing up for plutonium lol. Also thought someone may want the opportunity to hunt in a different region of the country. Here in Mississippi we hunt deer from Oct-Feb. A lot of deer hunting!!!! As stated earlier I am just interested in getting involved with more pheasant hunting.

Merlebo02, With a small amount of homework and one 5 day or 4 day trip to Kansas, you would be set!!! You would find good walk ins and some not so good and with a few knocks on doors maybe make some contacts for private ground. Be yourself and don't BS anyone ,because they will see right through it!! Opening is tough to get on private, but it gets better the later you go!!!

When you are ready to go p.m. me and we can talk!!!

I sure will Bleu, and thanks alot. I see that you are from Loveland, Co. Is that the same as the Loveland pass area?? I travel through their every year when going to Keystone snow skiing. This year will be going to Aspen so wont make that trip this year, such a pretty place though. I always said when I was done with school I would move to Dillion, Co which is just outside Keystone..

Actually it is not! There are a couple towns, cities up north of Denver, about an hour North, that are named Loveland and Berthoud!!!! Both are also passes up in the hills!!!!! About the same distance from Cheyenne , nestled against the foothills, just South of FT. Collins!!!

merlebo02,

I live in Northeast Arkansas and have been to Iowa and SD with all hunts being mostly public ground. Great trips each time, may not have taken limits every day, but they were great trips.

These guys on here give great tips and info and I cannot tell you how much they helped in our planning and how much I appreciate their input. If you need any info I would be glad to share what little I have learned as well.

We are heading to KS in Dec for another public land venture and looking forward to that. Will probably be looking for help on here for that in the near future as well.

Good luck

Chuck
