Trade a MS delta Duck hunt for a Pheasant hunt

Hey guys,

Im going to take a shot in the dark. I dont hunt or date on the internet usually but Ill give it a try. I am coming up to KS next tuesday through sunday along with 3 friends. We are going to quail hunt on Ft Riley and plan to do some pheasant hunting on some of the walk in areas within an hour or so of Junction City. We have planned to just do our own thing but I figured I would give this a try. We are all members in a duck camp in the MS delta. We kill a lot of good ducks. I would be happy to trade someone for a hunt or two. We would love to spend a day with a local pheasant hunter either on public or private land. I am a 32 year old father of 2 and in Insurance. The other guys are two sales men and a dog trainer. We are bringing labs and a GSP. We have lodging in Junction City and are willing to travel for a good hunt. We are going to be hunting the 16th-21st. If anyone is interested in a trade let me know!

BritLab your going to have to go farther West then Junction City if you want to get into some good Pheasant hunting. You may have to work hard to find Quail that whole area of the state had a hard winter with lots of snow and a wet spring. If you can, go anywhere West and Southwest of Salina. The North Central and Northeast part of the State got hit hard and bird numbers are down big time. I would like to take you up on your offer but I won't be up there when you are, maybe someone will take you up on it.
 
Welcome to the forum. Wish I could help you, but if my wife has surgery as planned, I will be tied up, plus I am way further SW of Junction City.

The numbers are up here on Ft Riley in certain areas... got to have the free time to do your scouting... As a soldier here and doing my research you will definately get into lots of quail and if you go to the right place you'll get some pheasants up... I am going first 3 days with my dad thats coming in from Indiana. I let ya know how I do after day one..
 
Thanks guys. I know junction city is further east than the best areas. But that's where we are staying. I have free gas and we are not afraid to drive. Thanks for the input thus far.

If it were any other year I'd invite you to join, but we're having our first kid in a couple weeks, and the wife says no trips after opening weekend.

I'll echo what the others are saying, go further west. While in school at KSU (next door to Junction City), we would make some afternoon trips to Abilene and killed a few birds. You might get some action, but not near what you could a bit further west.

...im gunna make a not of that,... plan to have kids born in the summer...

but in response to britlab...me a few buddys will be huntin some WIHA around lacrosse on the 20th, ur welcome to come down and join for a day if u want to. we will have 2 gsp most likely.
 
Thanks for the input guys. We have made it to junction city. I suppose we are going to head west and hit some of the WIHA's. From hearing what you guys are saying we stand better chances of finding birds back west of here. I have studied the atlas and maps the last few days. Im trying to decide what direction to go. Im debating between Waldo/Paradise north of Russell or back toward salina? I dont really want to go much further west than hays or so but can if we need to. Thanks for any input you guys may have.
